Overview
Established in 1913, Bergfeld Park reflects a rich history and an impressionable community impact for Tyler, Texas. One of Tyler’s most historical sites, It’s heritage and history is synonymous to the many icons of our Texas downtown parks. The Park was honored to receive the Lone Star Legacy Park award in 2014, which revived a desire for our community to assess park preservation and improvement needs.
Landvisions was chosen to participate with city committee members and The City of Tyler Parks and Recreation Department in developing planning concepts of what Bergfeld Park could be in the 21st Century. The project was focused on providing the community with a new vision for this popular destination. Our teams work initially explored the historical context, with a strategic approach to preservation and defining a program with phased improvements.
The first phase was chosen for purposes of activation and what would create a renewed sense of space and use. The Playground addition, completed in 2015, provided excitement for the community and kids of all ages and abilities.
